Self-Love Smoothie Bowl

Who needs a man when you can have a smoothie bowl??? Just kidding... kinda… I love my boyfriend… and smoothie bowls. What I really mean is you don’t need a man to buy you roses, or make you breakfast in bed to feel special on Valentine’s Day. I would never complain about either of those things, BUT a little smoothie can go a long way when perceived as an act of service for yourself.

You are WORTH having a beautiful, nourishing breakfast. There are only ten ingredients listed below, but I think the most important ingredient of all is your mindset while building this. Recognize that you are doing something wonderful for yourself. Slow down. Making yourself breakfast is an act of self care. How often do you do this for yourself? You might as well light a candle, have a cup of tea, and really soak it in. Why not make food an experience, even if it is as simple as a smoothie? Admire your creation before you eat it, realize how much good work it will do for your body, then savor every bite.

For the smoothie blend together:

  • 1 frozen banana

  • 1 frozen pitaya (dragon fruit) pack, I use the brand Pitaya Plus

  • 1 c frozen strawberries

  • 1 tsp vanilla

  • 1-2 medjool dates

  • splash of coconut milk (enough to help blend, the less liquid you use the thicker it will be)

Transfer the goodness to a bowl and top however you desire. This is your canvas.

For the toppings I used:

  • granola

  • coconut flakes

  • pomegranate seeds

  • rose petals

That’s it! Self-care doesn’t have to be extravagant, and neither does food. Enjoy, and remember: you are worth the extra time and care. You deserve this.

One more thing, happy Valentine’s Day! What a wonderful opportunity to show some extra love in all areas of our lives. You don’t need a partner to enjoy the holiday. Even by simply clicking on this recipe, you have confirmed how loved you are– by you! And I love you too!
